The Kingdom of DeChance
DeChance is a rural community. Plagues and famine besieged the countryside during recent power struggles by various chaos deities. King Joshua emptied the royal treasury buying food and medical supplies for his kingdom.
King Joshua Heron is the beloved ruler of Dechance. He is 26 years old and is married to Queen Grace. They have one son, Christopher. King Joshua assumed the throne after his father's death. Both King Joshua and Queen Grace are known for their kindness and generosity.
Queen Grace is the only child of King Ferninand, who rules the neighboring kingdom. King Ferninand arranged his beloved daughters marriage to King Joshua because he believed him to be a decent and just man. Queen Grace and King Joshua have been happily married for 8 years. They have one son, Christopher, and Queen Grace is pregnant with the couples second child.
Christopher Heron is five years old. At his birth, Alana prophesied that only when Christopher ascents the Golden throne will the kingdom of DeChance know peace. Christopher favors his father in appearance.
Sir Alvyn has been head of the order of Dechance for the last 12 years, he was appointed to the order by King Joshua's father, King Exhavier. Five years ago, Sir Alvyn offered to resign as head of the order for reasons undisclosed. King Joshua refused to accept his resignation and maintained him as head of the order. King Joshua would only say "A man should be judged solely on his own merits"
The Knights of DeChance are a lawful good order whose primary function is to protect and preserve the land of DeChance. Knights are permitted to travel in other lands as long as the return to Dechance when recalled. The knights of DeChance are known for honesty and for their generosity to the poor. Knights have been known to be expelled from the Order for breaking their knightly code, an example of a action that break a Knights code is stealing. The head of the order is Sir Alvyn, who is under the direct authority of King Joshua of DeChance.
DeChance Knightly Code - All knights of DeChance are of lawful good alignment. The code is to protect the land of DeChance. This does not protect the knight from traveling but he/she must return to DeChance if the need arises. The knight must protect the innocent and defenseless and care for the poor. The code is a blessing and a honor to the knights but it is also a curse to those that would break it. PC's do not have to change classes to become a honorary knight however they must uphold the code in the same manner as those of the knight class.
Simon Locke is the illegitimate son of a respected shoemaker, Jullian Raulings. Jullian's affair with Andressa occurred shortly after he had been widowed. Simon's mother, Andressa Locke, raised the child alone and refused to allow Jullian or his half brother to see him. Andressa was angered that Jullian was still in love with his deceased wife. Simon Locke grew up resenting his half brother upon whom Jullian doted. Andressa was poor and unable to provide Simon with the advantages that his brother received. His half brothers high position in the DeChance court angered Simon. It was the catalyst that prompted Simon to take drastic action.
Anne Heron is King Joshua's older sister, rumor has it that she is unhappy that the Golden throne passes to the male heir and not to the first born child.
Alana, seer of the ancients, is an enigma. She is seen only when she wishes to be. Her word is taken as law, for her prophesies always come true. She is a magic user of unknown power. She operates a magic shop from the highest mountaintop in DeChance. While away her shop is guarded by her apprentices, Newt and Toad.
Brothers of Iconicon- The Brothers of Iconicon run the DeChance orphanage which is located at the base of Mount Seminiga. The war pillaged community has hundreds of children living there. Queen Grace and her son, Christopher, are frequent visitors to the orphanage to the delight of the children.
